The Red Bicycle

(inspired by Chessa)

Tape it on her door.
How will I know which is hers?
Tape it on the door next to the red bicycle.
And if the bicycle is not there?
The bicycle is always there! Except during the few hours directly following sunrise and on Sundays during the few hours proceeding sunset. And whenever Alfonso has taken it to be serviced.
How will I know? How will I know whether the bicycle might be in the shop? How?!
Do not get upset, Signora. Things tend to arrange themselves in one's favor around here. Pray to Saint Anthony. The bike will stay put when you need to find it there.
Fine. Fine. Well? Aren't you going to tell me what this says then?
I would Signora, but as you can see the train has arrived and I must go. Just know that the words in that letter will one day be said to you, for you are lovely, just lovely. Be well and healthy, and smile more. Goodbye dear girl.
Goodbye strange man. Goodbye to you.

I love this! This reminds me of one of the short story collections from one of my favorite novelists, Gabriel García Márquez.

I really like this part, it could signify so many things about living, having faith that all will be as it needs be.
