Another Lifetime: Today

Today

Heels together, toes facing away from the tub, shoulders wrapped in a warm towel, my eyes fall on a heap of clothes that had been tossed on the sink counter. Thoughts line themselves up before me in rows

volunteer meeting, groceries, finish laundry
return books, today is a good day, get to the bank
smooth things over, clean the kitchen, call Mom

and there it is, dead center. Like selecting an image from an electronic contact sheet I click twice to enlarge it, and give it the attention it deserves. It is gigantic before me now, the goodness of this very day, and I smile into the mirror for yes, this is an encouraging start indeed.
